Sisir Kumar Sahana

Born:
Born in 1965, Bankura, West Bengal.

Qualifications :
B Fine Arts and M Fine Arts in painting (First Class) from Kala Bhavan, Santiniketan, Viswa Bharati Viswa Bharati University, 1982-1987 and 1987-1989. Advanced Diploma in Stained Glass Painting and Print Making from The Central St. Martin's College of Art and Design, London 1993 - 1994.

Scholarships:
Merit Scholarship from Viswa Bharati University form 1982-1989.
Commonwealth Scholarship, nominated by The Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Department of Education, Government of India, sponsored by The Commonwealth Universities Commission, tenable in the UK,
1993-1994 nominated by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Govt. of India..

Fellowships:
Junior Research Fellowship in the field of Glass Painting in 1992 and 1993 and Senior Fellowship for the year of 2008 and 2009 from The Ministry of Human Resources & Development, Department of Culture, Government of India. Invited on a Fellowship by The Creative Glass Center of America, USA to participate as a Fellow artist in the Spring Session from January to April, 2000 ( three months) and 2004 (three month).

Held 22 solo exhibitions in India. Exhibited in Surya Art Gallery, Hyderabad. Gallery- 88, Kolkata. Gallery Ganesha, Delhi. Guild Art Gallery, Mumbai. Apparao Art Gallery, Chennai. Forum Art Gallery, Chennai. Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad. Sumukha Art Gallery, Bangalore beside many group shows in Galleries in India and abroad such as Arts India, New York. Glass Gallery, Washington DC. Raw Art Gallery, London. Cochrain Theatre, London. Museum Creative glass Centre, USA.

Making Feature film :
Directed a feature film 'Prithvi' (The Earth) in Bengali and Telugu in 2006 produced by Kalakriti Art Gallery.
Film was exhibited in many film Festivals including-Kolkata International Film Festival, Trichur International
Film Festival, Lalitkala Film Festival, Delhi.
Hyderabad International Film Festival, Dhaka International Film Festival, Bangladesh.
Second feature film; 'Maati-O-Manush' (The Soil and the People) in Bengali Directed and Produced in 2009.
Film received Jury Award in New Hope Film Festival, USA, in 2010 and nominated for Special Jury Award in
Religion Today Film Festival, Italy, 2010.
Film was exhibited in the International Film Festivals in India and abroad.
